A mysterious fascination with the search for insight from an individuals lifecast, has long been a major part of the historic collection and obsession with the Death Masks of celebrities and criminals, in some cases, like the famous poet Dante Alighieri, his Death Mask is still venerated by millions of museum visitors annually. Death Masks were also made in the name of Phrenology science - the use of the now discredited science of Phrenology was an attempt to understand criminality, through measuring the shape of the skull and reading the bumps on the cranium.
Death Masks were taken of criminals and celebrities alike before photography became commonly employed after the British Jack the Ripper case in 1888.
These death masks are hand sculpted from photographic references and custom made in aged Fibreglass, that will stand solemnly in any display or on any mantlepiece, displaying also the real consequences of rebellious and criminal action under a tyrannical Government.

FREDERICK BAILEY DEEMING DEATH MASKThis is a unique 1:1 replica (57cm circumference x 28cm height), of the antique Frederick Bailey Deeming Death Mask taken in 1892. Deeming, known as 'The Demon' or 'Mad Fred', is considered to be Australia's first Serial Killer and has long been a suspect in the infamous 'JACK THE RIPPER' murders. Deeming was an English born Australian gasfitter, who was a notorious conman, fraudster, and killer who left a string of murdered women and children from England to Australia, all in very similar methods to those of the Whitechapel Murders. Deeming was finally caught and arrested in Perth, Western Australia (as Baron Swanston) in March of 1892. Melbourne's newspapers proclaimed Deeming guilty before his trial, describing him as 'the criminal of the century' and 'a human tiger'. Deeming was tried (under the name of Albert Oliver Williams), and hanged in the Old Melbourne Gaol on 24 May 1892.
